At H&C, we're donating to God's Littlest Angels Haitian Baby Ministry (GLA) which as been in Haiti for more than 16 years. The mission is run by an American couple, John and Dixie Bickel along with their children and extended family. I've volunteered with GLA since 2002 when on my first trip to Haiti I fell in love with a 4 year old Haitian girl. This girl later became my daughter; Dixie made it all possible. Whether you donate to GLA or some other organization - please consider a donation to an organization within Haiti. Some would say that there is no hope for Haiti, and yet in Haiti hope is everywhere. Please won't you please take the next 10 minutes and donate today? www.glahaiti.org <http://www.glahaiti.org/>

Considering the extent of the loss of life as a result of the earthquake, it's no doubt that the ranks of the current population of the GLA orphanage will swell beyond their current resources. Although you might want to race down there to help, please don't. This simply adds to the burden of already overwhelmed rescue workers. As this situation evolves, you will be able to donate directly to the US office of GLA, and that money will be directed to the orphanage near Fermanthe.
Bookmark the GLA website on your computer for updates, and watch the H&C website/blog for additional news and updates.

As a result, the report suggests that the city conduct a thorough study of the hydrological and ecological connection between wetlands and U.S. navigable waters that are clearly covered by the Clean Water Act, to bring those areas more clearly within the jurisdiction of federal regulators.

The question is no longer whether global warming is upon us … but how we can rise to its challenge.

MIT’s Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Global Change is a world leader in this effort. Our many activities cohere around one strategy: science and policy have to work together.

River floods and storms that send water surging through swamps and marshes near rivers and coastal areas might cut in half the average greenhouse gas emissions from those affected wetlands, according to recent research at Ohio State University. A study suggests that pulses of water through wetlands result in lower average emissions of greenhouse gases over the course of the year compared to the emissions from wetlands that receive a steady flow of water.
